We visited together one of the most magnificent, prestigious, and vital pillars of national environmental and water security in Gaza — the largest wastewater treatment plant in the Strip, located east of Al-Bureij in the central area. It’s truly breathtaking, featuring cutting-edge global technologies and a creative management team from the Coastal Municipalities Water Utility, under the leadership of the dear and esteemed Eng. Munther Shiblak.
We also visited the largest solid waste landfill in Gaza, which is equipped with the most advanced microwave-based medical waste sterilization unit, operated by the Solid Waste Management Council for Gaza and the North, led by the beloved and brilliant Eng. Abdul Rahim Abu Al-Qumbuz.
After that, we toured one of the most efficient seawater desalination plants in Gaza, located southwest of Deir Al-Balah, producing more than 6,000 cubic meters of fresh water daily.
We then passed by Wadi Gaza, which is slowly being revived, before continuing alongside the grieving coastline—polluted by wastewater discharged from the Sheikh Ajleen treatment facility, one of Gaza’s largest outlets.
Finally, our journey concluded with a visit to the pioneering and most advanced environmental and water solutions company in Palestine—ETA, led by the innovative Abdul Salam Yassin.
A heartfelt thank you to all our beloved hosts for their warm welcome and generous hospitality. We are always aligned in vision, goals, efforts, dreams, and aspirations—complementing and completing each other’s paths.
Throughout the practical training, we explored numerous scientific facts, environmental data, and key figures regarding green skills, eco-friendly performance, and sustainable practices—accompanied by the wonderful UNESCO team and the most enthusiastic trainees.
Much love to our dear colleagues at HD&R in Ramallah,
And all my appreciation and respect to you all—
Together, we strive for a pollution-free environment in Palestine.
