PEF in partnership with Oxfam worked to improve the life of vulnerable farmers in Khan Younis Governorate especially in Al Fukhary area who completely depend on purchasing water from private wells in Rafah with focusing on protecting the natural resources in KhanYunis by the construction of recovered treated wastewater irrigation scheme.
Within the Project: The consultancy team implemented the following responsibilities to achieve the goals of the project:
-Reviewing health, safety and quality standard guidelines and protocols for RTWW developed during the ongoing EU WES project (Enhancing the resilience of vulnerable communities through efficient water solutions and addressing climate change in the Eastern area of Khan Younis in the Gaza Strip).
-Reviewing health and safety Palestinian and international standards related to handling / using of TWW directly and indirectly for irrigation purposes.
-Developing pre and post assessment tools for workers / operators to measure level of knowledge.
-Developing a capacity building plan to conduct training program for 20 municipal and wastewater treatment workers including the recovery model operational team, including development of training materials to cover the following topics:
*Wastewater post-treatment and re-use practices,
*Personal health and safety measures.
-Conducting training sessions for workers / operators at planned time and locations.

Developing specific contingency plans for CBOs in Gaza and North Gaza governorates, the targeted CBOs are partners for MA'AN in its emergency management and response system and have specific roles defined according to MA'AN's emergency operating structure. The contingency plans were enhanced the emergency preparedness capacity for the targeted CBOs which were:
- AISHA Association for Woman and Child Protection, Al Remal/Gaza City.
- Youth House for Culture and Development, Jabalia /North Gaza.
- Al Najda Social Association, Al Remal/Gaza.
The plans implemented in order to ensure their timely and effective response to the humanitarian needs of the affected communities during and following any natural or man-made hazards. Therefore, the contingency plans were strongly linked to MA'ANs contingency plan and support the targeted CBOs play their roles accountably, responsively and timely. The contingency plans included the following sections: Context Analysis, Hazard Vulnerability Assessment, Response Procedures/Operational plan, Roles and Responsibilities.
