Continuation and Expansion of Emergency Medical Interventions Across All Areas of the Gaza Strip Since the Beginning of the War on October 7, 2023
The National Institute for Environment and Development in Palestine acts as a representative and agent for the international organizations Heroic Hearts and Pious Projects. Through direct support, sponsorship, and funding provided by its partner institutions, the Institute has continued its extensive and focused medical efforts without interruption since the beginning of the war, addressing the needs of the injured and patients in various areas.
As the situation in the Gaza Strip worsened and the humanitarian crisis deepened, the scope of medical operations was expanded to provide urgent healthcare services to all citizens, addressing their various needs. This significantly alleviated the suffering of the population. A large number of medical clinics were established and operated, equipped with essential medical supplies, consumables, medications, and necessary treatments to conduct emergency medical interventions, addressing a wide range of diseases and injuries. In addition, highly skilled and professional medical and administrative staff were appointed, who continued working in these clinics under the most challenging conditions.
Furthermore, these clinics were expanded, redeployed, and redistributed multiple times to new and different areas to ensure continuous access to healthcare, depending on the displacement conditions and the flow of displaced persons from danger zones to the most densely populated refugee camps.
There was a continued focus on primary care, rehabilitation for children with amputations, maternal care, and providing psychological support to those in need throughout the course of the war. Efforts to improve and develop medical services for the affected population remained ongoing. A large number of memoranda of understanding and agreements were signed between the Institute and key medical institutions in Gaza to enhance joint efforts, exchange, and integrate roles to provide the best possible medical services to the war-affected population.
